Post direction you comb
Just learned during our last trip to the barber that it is best to comb our son's hair in a downward direction towards his forehead. I had no idea...I had been combing it back. The barber (also AA) said that combing it back can lead to a receding hairline. Just thought I would share.

Really?

I always comb back...though Ella's hair is much longer than your DS's. I wonder if that matters?

We too were told to brush forwards on top. It seems to brush out better for our sons this way. I don't know if girl hair is the same way.

I only comb DS's hair when it is wet, and slick with conditioner, I really don't need to pull hard on it. It almost 8 inches long on top. If I were to comb it to the front, I would be combing it down over his face. Honestly, I don't think this is an issue. I know that if you have constant tension applied to hair it can be a problem: girls who wear their hair braided too tightly, or in the same hair style all the time.
