 Christmas Cards
Anyone working on theirs already? We have to have our picture taken somewhere-- not professional, just a snapshot/candid. Would it be cheezy if we are all in football shirts? (My 2 guys are crazy about the Vikings and so I got a shirt too....)?? Tell me honestly! I never do a letter because I cannot stand them!! Anyone else? I know too many people who are having rough times and those letters bragging on everyone just are for the birds.

 Re: Christmas Cards
Well, I love Christmas letters! I don't write one, but I LOVE them. I think the Viking shirts is a cute idea. We usually do a picture with kids in front of the Nativity set, the Christmas tree, or a stocking hung fireplace. It's almost always an entire day's project and we end up yelling at the kids and the dog to look at the camera, smile, etc. This year, I got some pictures of the kids taken at Target on Columbus Day and we're going to photoshop in a Christmas background and use that one for our card. No tears, no worrying about little boys keeping out of the dirt, it's all done. No dog, but that's ok.

 Re: Christmas Cards
I'm not a fan of the Christmas letter either. I once saw a card that was a collage of pictures since the family lived overseas which I did enjoy looking at.
I'm about to send our card off to the printers. Most of our photos are from the summer. I'm doing a trifold card (5x5 size) on pearl paper. I don't have hundreds to send out so I am making it a little over the top this year.

 Re: Christmas Cards
I have matching shirts for all of us that we're going to wear at Disney in a few weeks (dh wasn't happy about the matching shirts, but he still agreed to do it ). We'll have one of the photopass photographers take our picture and we'll choose from one of the photopass pictures to use as our Christmas card picture.

 Re: Christmas Cards
I'm not a matching shirt person or a Christmas letter person, but I'm about ready to do our cards. Our picture is from the beach this past September, so not too far out. It's a great shot of all of us in front of the bridges in Charleston. I'm just doing the simple Walgreens picture card thing.

 Re: Christmas Cards
Yay for Charleston! I bet that's a good picture. I really like to get Christmas cards with pictures and letters. I'm not a huge fan of the 8.5 x 11 single-spaced full-page tiny print letter that tells everything about everybody including the dogs and cats, etc , but I do love to hear an update about what is going on in people's lives who I do not get to see very often. Honestly, I don't really enjoy getting just plain old cards with no pictures, but maybe that makes me some kind of Scrooge? Sounds like everybody has good ideas for what they are doing. I need to figure out what we will do. Maybe we should do another BB Christmas card exchange this year? I didn't participate last year, and I was sad that I didn't.

 Re: Christmas Cards
We have our pictures printed and I already wrote the letter too. I LOVE getting letters. My favorite Christmas cards/pics from people are the ones that include letters... of course I don't like braggy letters, but you can write a very nice letter without it being all about the trips you took and how awesome your kids are! I actually can't think of any bragging letters I've ever received or sent at Christmas time, though I know my mom has one friend whose letters are always a brag fest.

 Re: Christmas Cards
Last year my sister's family all wore the "Wilds" hockey jourseys, then the boys wore santa hats decorating the tree. It was them, the boys love playing hockey and the whole family gets involved in decorating for Christmas. I personally enjoy getting the casual picture versus the posed ones. Pictures tells a thousand words without having to write them.

 Re: Christmas Cards
I can't STAND the letters that go onnnnn and onnnnnn about their kids grades, and braggity brag stuff. But I LOVE getting letters that are short, sweet, to the point, and have lots of pictures!!
I'm not a formal-picture kinda girl or family, so I love the idea of just a bunch of candid pictures of you being a family!

 Re: Christmas Cards
Letters are a bit of a brag-fest, generally. We sent one (first time ever) last year simply b/c of all the changes----Steve got a new job, but most importantly, we adopted! I buy my Christmas cards at Hallmark after Christmas the year before. They have the most beautiful cards! I get them 75% off, and I usually buy several boxes (all different). I LOVE sending and receiving Christmas cards. It's such an awesome tradition.

 Re: Christmas Cards
Already ordered mine. We did 2 year/15 month pictures for the boys in Sept. and I bought the cd so I ordered ours through Winkflash already.
ETA our Xmas card is a collage of about 9 pics, one big one in the center, then I also had printed a short paragraph about our family underneath. Much better than a long letter.

 Re: Christmas Cards
I LOVE Christmas letters! So fun to hear what everyone is up to. But now that we have facebook it seems a little redundant. I usually do a short paragraph on what we have been up to. I hate hearing all about Grandma and Aunt so and so and all the trips people went on. Bleh. But I do like to hear about the kiddos and jobs and stuff. Anyway, I LOVE your idea...but I'm a matchy picture girl so...

 Re: Christmas Cards
I have Christmas cards somewhere that I bought last year, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find which box they're in before it's too late... (moving again, day after tomorrow).
A letter...I guess I better write one! We send out letters 4x a year, so it's not a lot different at Christmas time. It actually may be a Jan or Feb letter instead of Christmas!
Speaking of Christmas cards are we gonna do a BB exchange this year?
