 S. Korea--weight requirement? X-post
Hello everyone:) I'm new here....quick intro: I'm Amy/34, DH is Roger/37. We have 3 boys, ages 13, 6 and 3. We are planning to adopt a little girl soon I was really interested in the S.Korea program, until I read on another agency's website that there is a nice little 'weight chart' that you must fit into before you can adopt from there I looked here: http://adoption.state.gov/country/south ... .html#who1and couldn't find anywhere where it said there was a wt requirement. Hubby and I really like that program....please tell me that it's still an option??? Thanks, Amy

When we adopted our DS from South Korea in 2006, we were told about the weight requirement, but they can and do make exceptions. They look at overall health, age etc. We did not have any problems. Best of luck to you on your new adventures!

 Re: S. Korea--weight requirement? X-post
Each American agency with a Korea program is linked to one of four Korean social welfare organizations. Two are large and two are small. Each of these Korean organizations has its own rules. While the rules will be similar and consistent with Korea's adoption laws, there will be some variation. Weight restrictions are a good example. My understanding is that only one or, possibly, two, of the four agencies imposes weight restrictions. And, of course, American agencies may also have some rules of their own, which may be more strict than those of Korea.

 Re: S. Korea--weight requirement? X-post
This is a question about S. Korea adoptions but different than the weight question. I thought I read a about a year or so ago that adoptions of children from S. Korea was only available to some states. Does anyone know anything about this? I have done some recent research and cannot find anything so I am thinking that I read it wrong. Any information would be helpful.

Different agencies are approved for placing healthy infants in certain states. They can place special needs children in any state they have an office. It depends on the agency and their websites state which states they can place in. Good luck!
