 Single Christian Adoption
Hi, Although I had hoped to meet my husband by now, God has a different plan for my life apparently and I trust His heart and love for me. However, I have prayed for many years and want to start my family. I have been a teacher my whole life, in both general and special education and can't wait to have children of my own to teach and to love. I am just starting the process and already have plenty of questions and confusions!
I have attended two orientation sessions, one with an agency placing domestic newborns and one with an agency that places foster kids and children with special needs. I long for a baby but don't know if that's possibly - it seems pretty unlikely since I'm single. I have a heart for kids with special needs and skills as a special educator, but I also know the resources necessary to support children with disabilities and especially since I eventually want more than one child.
I'm struggling with these decisions. I feel God's leading but it's hard to know which is the right direction to head. I like the idea of a facilitator but haven't found one in my state yet. And there are quite a few other agencies I haven't even been to yet! I really like the Christian focus of Bethany, but unfortunately I'm in Arizona and there are no locations here. I don't know anyone who has adopted recently so I'm looking forward to this forum! Thanks! Jeni

 Re: Single Christian Adoption
I think that you should go with your feeling. If you want to have a baby...go for it. I too am single (now nearly 42) and have a 5-1/2 year old. I too thought that God would have a different plan and would be married with children of my own BUT....I took it all into my own hands by adoption! LOVE IT!!! My daughter was 15 days old when coming home and now we are working on a second infant adoption. God has truly continued to bless the two of us and I know that in His timing our little one will come home and our family will be complete! So, if that is your heart's desire....follow it, prayer about it and it will be!
God bless, Kim

 Re: Single Christian Adoption
Hello. I agree with Kim. Just go with what you feel and pray about it. I am single and in the adoption process with Bethany. I was matched a month ago so yes I really feel singles have a great chance at adopting a baby. I am awaiting the arrival of a girl due on December 14th. I wish you the best of luck! And please pray for us all during this process. The waiting can be tough and it is so scary but well worth it.
